M\u00e5ls\u00e4ttningen med krossning och malning av malten \u00e4r att komma \u00e5t st\u00e4rkelsen som finns i maltkornet f\u00f6r att i ett senare skede kunna laka ur denna och konvertera den till sockerarter.<\/p>\n<p>Den vanligaste kvarnen f\u00f6r whisky jobbar enligt en traditionell torrmalningsprincip. Den \u00e4r oftast utrustad med flera valspar d\u00e4r spannm\u00e5let f\u00f6rst krossas sedan mals.<\/p>\n<p>Problemet med torrmalning \u00e4r inte att den ger ett s\u00e4mre resultat utan att processen skapar mycket damm, som kan ant\u00e4ndas av en gnista och starta en brand eller till och med orsaka en explosion. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r kr\u00e4ver torrmalning speciell f\u00f6rsiktighet. Den resulterar ocks\u00e5 i ett extra mellansteg d\u00e4r den krossade r\u00e5varan hanteras innan bl\u00f6tl\u00e4ggning vid m\u00e4skningen.<\/p>\n<p>I Skottland anv\u00e4nds n\u00e4stan uteslutande torrmalning. Tillsammans med bryggvattnet f\u00e5r det en gr\u00f6tliknande konsistens. I och med att vi b\u00f6rjar tillf\u00f6ra vatten redan i kvarnen kan man s\u00e4ga att v\u00e5r m\u00e4skningsprocess b\u00f6rjar redan d\u00e4r.<\/p>\n<p>De mest konkreta f\u00f6rdelarna med bl\u00f6tmalning \u00e4r<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>H\u00f6gre extrakt. Bl\u00f6tmalningen skapar en\u00a0st\u00f6rre del finkross \u00e4n torrmalningen och d\u00e5 kommer man \u00e5t extraktet i k\u00e4rnan b\u00e4ttre.<\/li>\n<li>Snabbare process. Tids\u00e5tg\u00e5ngen f\u00f6r att mala en batch minskas d\u00e5 mellansteg som finns vid traditionell malning kan tas bort.<\/li>\n<li>L\u00e4gre energif\u00f6rbrukning. Bl\u00f6tmalningen kr\u00e4ver mindre energi j\u00e4mf\u00f6rt med andra mer traditionella metoder.<\/li>\n<li>H\u00f6gre renlighet. Kvarnen diskar sig sj\u00e4lv efter varje anv\u00e4ndning.<\/li>\n<li>\u00d6kad s\u00e4kerhet. Risken f\u00f6r dammexplosion finns inte d\u00e5 r\u00e5varorna bl\u00f6ts under malningen.
